Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina tied the knot on Friday the 16th of July. The tennis sweethearts have been dating for the past two years and have finally made it official. While it was one of the happiest moments of his life, Monfils struggled to express his emotions. The Frenchman even joked, saying it would be easier winning the Roland Garros than putting his emotions into words.

Getting back together after splitting ways earlier this years, Gael proposed to Elina in Switzerland a few weeks back.

After a splendid wedding in Geneva and a small celebration with family and friends, the couple will be heading to Tokyo later this month, for the Olympics. Elina will be representing Ukraine in both singles and doubles, whereas Gael will be leading the French contingent. With a not-so-great 2021, the two players will be looking to make a mark at the Olympics with their performance.

Elina has had a 23-13 win-loss record in 2021, whereas Gael has managed only three wins this year, along with nine losses. Maybe the wedding will give them extra motivation to win a few games this month, possibly a potential podium finish in Tokyo.

It will be a great scene if the couple can get a podium finish together. However, it looks a bit difficult for Gael to make it to the top three at the Olympics. Elina can still pull off a stunner in Tokyo, as the World No.6 will be hungry for success.
