Holger Rune adds premium wings to his back. The current World No. 6 has recently hired Boris Becker as his coach. Aside from being an Olympic gold medalist, Becker has won several titles as a player. The German has previously coached Novak Djokovic, helping him reach the top. Competing in the Swiss Indoors at the moment, Rune feels optimistic about having Becker as his coach. His excitement can be clearly seen through his comments on his new career phase. He goes on to talk about his intentions for stealing.

Holger Rune eyes a progress chart similar to Novak Djokovic. World No. 1 hasn’t always been the greatest. Djokovic has been constantly training his mind and body to reach where he is today. A major part of his training was done under the guidance of Boris Becker. Now that Rune has Becker, he has his intentions sorted. The Danish defeated Djokovic in the race for the title of ATP Masters 1000 in 2022, and now he believes he can capture more.

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer have done their best to set unachievable tennis standards. Holger Rune has now devised a different plan to reach their stature. Rather than focusing too much on the wrong things, Rune wants to learn from what the Big Three did right. With Becker by his side, Rune’s pursuit of greatness begins with his imitation of the path taken by Djokovic.

The ones who are now at the top have once admired and learned from the best of their generation. Holger Rune does not plan on doing anything different. He said, “It’s great to learn from players like Boris and from Rafa, Roger, & Novak.. It would be good to steal a bit from what they did. They got so many things right.” Although Rune uses the word “steal”, his motivations are pure.
