Daniil Medvedev’s Russian Tennis Federation has triumphed over Team Germany to enter the finals of the Davis Cup 2021. This time Medvedev decided to celebrate in a distinctive way as he overcame Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany.

The current World No. 2 emulated the celebration of legendary footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo.
When he was asked to comment on Ronaldo’s celebration style, the Russian said it was fun. However, he thinks he didn’t execute it well, and concluded that it was a wrong decision.

Daniil Medvedev imitates Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration
Daniil Medvedev has thoroughly enjoyed the 2021 season. The Russian achieved new milestones: in particular, his maiden Grand Slam title at US Open 2021. Currently, Medvedev has taken the responsibility of leading the Russian Tennis Federation at Davis Cup 2021.
As he registered a marvelous win over Jan-Lennard Struff, the Russian team has now reached the finals of the tournament. In addition, Medvedev performed an audacious celebration. The Russian imitated the celebration of Manchester United’s striker, Cristiano Ronaldo.
There was a reason behind this. The match was being played in Madrid. Medvedev stated that he recalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration during the footballer’s tenure at Real Madrid.

” When Cristiano played in Madrid, he was doing this celebration a lot of times. That’s why I decided to do it. I felt it was fun. But, yeah, probably it was the wrong decision, which can happen,” he stated on his celebration.
It appears like Daniil Medvedev is a passionate football fan. Moreover, the Russian did the ‘dead fish’ celebration after edging past Novak Djokovic in the finals of US Open 2021. He said it was inspired by the FIFA video game.

Just one day ago, Team Croatia recorded their biggest win at Davis Cup, when they outclassed Djokovic’s Serbia. The Russian Tennis Federation will now face the likes of Marin Cilic‘s Croatia for the ultimate showdown of the tournament. Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev will be hoping to clinch another title before the year ends.
