Life partners are each other’s ride-or-die. If there is one couple who fulfills this legacy, it is the Mirka-Roger Federer. People saw Mirka with a big diamond ring, but what they did not see was that she was there for him in his worst of times.

2001 saw the blooming of their eventually iconic love story, but it was also the time Federer gained a lot of attention. And with attention, the expectations rose. However, when he had to take a hiatus because of his injury, it was Mirka was by his side.

Mirka became Roger Federer’s guide during his difficult times

In 2001, when he defeated tennis legend Pete Sampras in the fourth round of Wimbledon, the spotlight came upon the player. However, because of an injury, he had to go on hiatus for six weeks. And during this time, he was lost and was living with another rehabilitating friend, Michael Lammer.

Lammer had a foot injury and Federer volunteered to be his chauffeur as the former was completing high school. In the biography, ‘The Master’, Christopher Clarey wrote about it and stated Lammer’s side of the story. He stated, “Roger was like, ‘Okay, I’ll come pick you up at school, and I’ll bring you to school, because I’m also injured, and my schedule is very flexible. I’ll be the taxi driver for you.”

Amidst this chaos and confusion, it was Mirka who came to their rescue. In the book, Federer stated, “Mirka started to run the apartment for us thankfully, so that was lucky. Michael and me, we still laugh about it.” He added, “Michael came to visit me, and we had dinner and we were talking about it again, how good it was to have Mirka in our life. Finally, we could find stuff, and finally, we could breathe normally again from all the dust being cleaned up.”
