2022 was a heartbreaking year for tennis fans. It saw the retirement of two of tennis’ biggest stars, Serena Williams and Roger Federer. The latter especially was hoping to make a comeback at Wimbledon but couldn’t do so. He played at the Laver Cup and subsequently called time on his illustrious career. Nonetheless, fans have been hoping to see Federer in action again, albeit in exhibition matches. However, their hopes of watching the Swiss maestro play again have dashed as a concerning video of the 42-year-old went viral on social media.

Federer leaves Djokovic way behind

In the recently released Forbes list of the highest-paid tennis players, the Swiss legend triumphed over Djokovic despite being away from the sport. Federer amassed $95 million while Djokovic managed to earn less than half of it, at $38.4 million. The 42-year-old has kept his business ventures growing, which is the result of his massive fortune even after his retirement.

While fans will want to see Federer in action again, his recent video gives likely signs that he might not be able to return to the court ever again. This is a disappointing sign, not just for his fans but also for people fond of the sport in general.
