The list includes some of the tennis greats like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and others. However, there is another big name whose massive contribution towards the same initiative has been kept away from the public lens.

Roger Federer was another major force behind increasing the prize money awarded to players. Speaking of the same, a renowned journalist recently hailed the Swiss tennis Maestro’s silent yet immense contribution to pushing up award prizes in the tennis realm.

Roger Federer had a similar personality to Novak Djokovic given his noble initiatives

The Serbian tennis legend previously came up with his own rebel organization to shed light on the prevailing issues in the tennis community under the authorities. His main motive was to address players’ welfare, including appropriate prize money for the athletes participating in tournaments. For such noble endeavors, Djokovic has often been lauded by the entire tennis community.

However, there is another tennis great who has been involved in similar initiatives like Djokovic’s rebel organization. It is the Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer who was a silent yet major force behind increasing prize money for lower-ranked players. The same has also been mentioned in his book, ‘The Roger Federer Effect,’ in which he has received praise for his endeavors for the welfare of athletes.

One of the excerpts of the book stated, “Okay, now this money has to go down. It has to go through to qualifiers, to first-round players, for a better life for them. We’re okay at the top; it doesn’t need to be here.” 

Taking note of these excerpts, one of the renowned journalists recently hailed the 20 times singles Grand Slam champion on Twitter. He said, “This year’s @MiamiOpen winners will get $1.26 million ($500,000 more than in 2013). Others in the tennis community have also shed light on the same matter

Some of the biggest names from both the ATP and WTA Tour have joined Djokovic’s rebel organization to fight for player’s rights. From Ons Jabeur to Vasek Pospisil, a number of players have come forward to bring to light the inadequacies of the current tennis authorities.

They have often used their platforms for representing the players’ best interests including pushing up award prizes for lower-ranked athletes.
