‘You Doubt That?’: Father Srdjan Claims Novak Djokovic Will Win Several Other Grand Slams

Novak Djokovic finished his 2021 season as the World No. 1 for the seventh time in a row. Moreover, the Serbian won 3 Grand Slams this year, barring the US Open.
Not only was Djokovic unbelievably close to securing the elusive Golden Slam, but the Calendar Grand Slam as well. However, it was not to be, as he fell to Russian Alexander Zverev in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics semi-final.
Subsequently, he faced defeat at the hands of World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev at the US Open as well. Thus, both Zverev and Medvedev quashed his hopes for the elusive feats in tennis.

Novak Djokovic will win several more grand slams, per father
Novak’s father, Srdjan Djokovic, has been one of the most vocal parental figures on the circuit. Many times, he has even made bold claims about other players in tennis who are rivals to Novak.

Most recently, in an interview with news outlet K1 Televizija, Srdjan talked about Novak Djokovic‘s future seasons. He said that Djokovic was going to continue playing tennis for at least two or three more years. In fact, he would win several more Grand Slams, too.
“He will win at least two more Wimbledon titles and several other Grand Slams,” Srdjan said. “For sure, you doubt that?” he challenged. Thus, it is clear that Novak Djokovic’s father expects him to win multiple Grand Slams going forward. In fact, his father believes in his grass-court capabilities such that he is confident that Novak will lift the Wimbledon Championship at least twice again.

He also talked about how long the World No. 1 player will continue tennis. “You don’t need to be an expert to see, Novak will play for another two or three years, that will be enough,” said Srdjan.

US Open defeat upset Novak
Srdjan talked about Novak’s defeat at the US Open final against Russian Daniil Medvedev. “That upset him, but the main defeat is Medvedev’s fantastic game. That’s how it is,” he explained.

Then, he went on to explain how Novak has been taught what sport truly means. Moreover, Novak takes victories and defeats, both in stride. “My son was taught that sport consists of victories and defeats, that as you accept victory so you do defeat.”

“I have often said during his career that when he plays badly and wins, that’s not good,” his father added.
