‘You Got Beers?’ – Australian UFC Champion Hangs Out With Tennis Icon Dylan Alcott as They Cheer for Ashleigh Barty

Dylan Alcott is one of the most successful quad wheelchair players in the history of tennis. In a career spanning close to a decade, Alcott won 17 quad wheelchair singles Grand Slam titles and 8 quad wheelchair doubles Grand Slam titles. Even though he finished as a runner-up in his last tournament (i e. Australian Open), the 31-year-old is still addressed with utmost love and warmth.
Just before his Australian Open tie, Alcott met UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. The two champions had a good time with each other, talking about each other’s personal/professional life. The two also headed together to watch a match of World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty.

Even though it has been more than a month since the two met, the amusing meeting video of the two doesn’t get old. Keeping that in mind, today, 9th February, Australian Open took to their Twitter handle, reposting the video.
Alcott meets Alexander Volkanovski
In the video, Alexander was heard as the main narrator, as he opened up, expressing his feeling for the Australian Open and talking about the recent meetings with them. He said, “I’m getting into it, yeah. Especially lately, you know, I’ve started to meet – I met Nick Kyrgios, and Dylan (Alcott) and a few of the guys, so that’s got me right into it.”

The UFC champion was at Melbourne Park to attend Ashleigh Barty’s match. Going all heart for the Australian champion, Alexander rooted, “Let’s go Ash”.
However, Barty wasn’t the only person Alexander supported. Being an Australian himself, Alcott was all in for other Australian athletes as well, making a special mention for Dylan Alcott. He said, “I’m always rooting for the guys, and obviously Dylan. He’s going to go get it.”
Being in a mood to relax out with Dylan Alcott, Alexander went on to ask the organizer, “You got Beers?”

The two then sat for some deep conversation, with Dylan explaining the reason behind his retirement from professional tennis. “I have hit the spot where if you don’t go all in, you start losing. And I’m at the point where I’m like doing so much,” Dylan said. “And I just want to go on top,” he further added.
The video ended with both the players posing for a photo together.

Dylan Alcott at the Grand Slams
Dylan Alcott is the most successful quad wheelchair men’s tennis player. He first won a Grand Slam quad wheelchair singles title in 2015 at the Australian Open. In the same year, he won the US Open. He won a total of 6 Grand Slam singles titles till 2018.

In 2019, he saw the biggest achievement of his career. Being in a sky-rocketing form, Dylan went on to win the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open, all in one year. In 2020, he again repeated history by winning all the Grand Slams. However, even after two years of continuous winning, an ambitious Dylan didn’t think of stopping. In 2021, he again won all the Grand Slams, the third time in a row.

Apart from the singles titles, the Australian also has 8 quad wheelchair men’s doubles Grand Slam titles. He last played at the 2022 Australian Open, finishing as a runner-up in the singles category.
