‘You Need To Blow Off Steam’ – Andre Agassi’s ‘Clueless’ Ex-Wife Brooke Shields Revealed Her Shock Upon Hearing His Crystal Meth Addiction

Who would have thought a skilled tennis player was once had a substance problem? A few years back, the ex-wife of Andre Agassi opened up about the time when her husband told her about his drug addiction. 

It came out as no surprise when Tennis star Andre Agassi’s ex-wife Brooke Shields wrote about her then husband’s drug addiction in her last book, “There was a little girl.” She elaborated on her side of the story when the former tennis player opened up about his addiction to his then wife.

The ex-wife of Andre Agassi reveals her side of the story 

In her memoir, she described how she felt when her husband talked openly about his addiction. His wife was disappointed to learn that the tennis star had been a crystal meth user for the most of their marriage. She was a huge support to Agassi in his early tennis career. 

She said, “I was the one who had supported him unconditionally when he told me that he was basically bald and had been wearing hairpieces most of his adult life. Why should this have been any different?” She was clueless about what happened to them and being a daughter of a drug addict, she was thankful that this happened a little sooner than expected.

Further, she also discussed how these athletes should unwind rather than exerting themselves physically over long periods of time. She said, “But if you watch these athletes play, they play five, six, seven hours at the highest level and they keep going and going and the regimen surrounding them is so intense that my justification was, I guess you need to blow off steam when you can.”

Agassi once tricked the tennis ruling body to escape a ban

Even the legendary tennis player wrote an autobiography titled ‘Open’, detailing all of his highs and lows in great detail. In that book, he spoke openly about his addiction in the year 1997 and the time he learned he failed the drug test. After failing the test, he told the ATP he drank an alcoholic drink that included the drug but was unaware of it. Later, the eight-time Major winner admitted to lying about the same to save his career.

However, he saved his rest of the tennis career after sustaining a two-year suspension. Even at that time, the American was not having a great time on the tennis court. Notably, after his return, he went on winning grand slams and ended his career with an impressive haul of eight major titles.
