Renowned Tennis Coach Boris Becker’s motivation has worked like a charm on the 20-year-old Danish tennis player, Hogler Rune. He started the season on a positive note by reaching the QFs in two out of four Grand Slams. But his performance graph dropped down significantly after the Wimbledon Championship and he had to call the 56YO former number 1, Boris Becker to steady the ship.

The German made an instant impact and Rune managed to run deep in Swiss Indoors and Paris Masters before qualifying for the ATP Finals. Recently they had confirmed they would extend their partnership until 2024. Now, Becker reveals his unique way of bringing the best out of the Dane. Let’s find out what’s it.

Rune is currently placed at number 8 in the rankings. He has already showcased his mettle by recovering from a run of 10 losses in 11 matches after hiring Becker in October. Becker was given the task to help Rune qualify for the ATP Finals. He did his job successfully as Rune appeared at the ATP Finals in Turin for the first time in his career.

However, that’s not all for the 6 time Grand Slam winner. Becker has already informed his new student that he would continue to fire harsh comments on him to get the best of him.

He has to live with it and put up with it because it’s the only way to progress,‘ Boris Becker. He added, ‘We talked during the preparations about why he was losing matches. Is it because of his forehand or backhand, or maybe his stance? If your attitude isn’t right for you, then you shouldn’t be playing tennis at all. He improved from match to match, both his attitude and his style of play.

Winning 49 titles along with 6 Grand Slams in his career, Boris Becker certainly knows how to win matches and bring home the silverware. Rune would now look to indulge himself in the champion aura and look forward to kick-starting the next season in style.

Rune has already set his targets for the 2024 season

Holger Rune had managed to defeat the current world number one, Novak Djokovic twice in their five encounters. Even, for the next year it’s needless to mention who’ll be the biggest blockade to his path to glory. But now as the former coach of Djokovic is on his side, he’d surely like to utilize the most of it.

Rune is hopeful about his success at the AO which is scheduled to take place from January 14 next year. This time he has an ambition of reaching the finals and defeating the world number 1. If he somehow manages to hold his number 8 spot he will successfully avoid any higher-ranked opponents till the QF.
