What you went thru in your career and still achieve what you did is remarkable. Your a hall of famer in my eyes. Living legend,” the American mentioned.

del Potro was indeed a role model for numerous youngsters growing up as he defied odds and stood up to the greats of the game. It started with Juan defeating Roger Federer and ending his US Open title streak back in 2009. The only thing that stood between del Potro and greatness is his body.

Over the course of time, del Potro had to undergo multiple knee and wrist surgeries which kept him out of the game for longer periods of time. The Argentinian made sure he ends his career on a tennis court instead of announcing it via press conference. While del Potro ensured that there is a possibility for a comeback, it’s highly unlikely for that to happen in near future.
