Andy Roddick explains why he lost to Drew Brees

Recently during a podcast conversation with Youth Inc, the well-known American tennis coach, Rick Macci, who has trained Venus, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Andy Roddick sat down to have an in-depth conversation about his experience as a coach. The 68-year-old former tennis player recalled an incident when Roddick, the former ATP world no.1, lost to Drew Brees.

After hearing this conversation, the former world number one defended himself. He wrote, “I was 9 when I lost to him …. I hadn’t gone to Macci’s yet.” The 2003 US Open champion was nine when he lost to the 11-year-old American quarterback.

Despite the difference in opinion, the American tennis coach shares a great bond with the former tennis player. During their training days, he frequently used to call the one-time Grand Slam champion a ‘mosquito’, as he used to always annoy the people in the Academy, but in a good way. Leaving this aside, did the former tennis player ever get a chance to win against the quarterback?

The 2003 US Open champion has talked a lot about this incident. However, at that time, the former NFL player was not training to be a tennis player, as he used to play tennis for leisure. In an old interview, the tennis player opened up about  what happened after Drew defeated him

According to Roddick, he is the reason why Drew left tennis and became a legendary player in football.
