Rafael Nadal gave a kick start to the year by winning his 21st Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Following that, he reigned at the Mexican Open and stepped into the hard courts of Indian Wells. Though things didn’t fold out the way he expected. Even though he made his way up to the finals, he failed to claim the trophy because of a rib injury from the semifinals.

After Taylor Fritz slipped the title out of his hands, Nadal took some time off the court to tend to his injury and made a comeback in the clay-court season. However, his Italian Open dismissal birthed rumors of him staying out of the French Open. However, Nadal recently put the rumors to bed by participating in the practice session of the French Open. Further, he is expecting a long run in France.
To take some time off from tennis, Nadal is also planning to attend some upcoming football matches.
Rafael Nadal Is Excited About the Finals of the Champions League Final 2022
The 21 times Grand Slam champion is currently gearing up to claim his 14th title at French Open 2022. Nadal is also looking forward to the finals of the Champions League which will be played at Stade de France. Nadal will mostly be one of the spectators on 21st May when his favorite club Real Madrid will take on Liverpool. He said, “I am here to play Roland-Garros, but of course I have my tickets already.”

Further, both Rafa and Djokovic are in the main draws of the French Open. Therefore fans are expecting a tussle between the defending champion Djokovic and the king of clay Nadal.

Federer About Nadal’s 21st Grand Slam Victory
Amidst the rumors of retirement, Roger Federer has announced a comeback. He has signed up to play at the Swiss Indoors in October, after being away for almost a year from due to his right knee injury. While speaking to the press post his announcement, the 20-time Grand Slam champion spoke about the splendid comeback Nadal made at the Australian Open 2022 after foot surgery in the 2021 year end. He said, “It’s incredibly inspiring when someone comes back from massive health problems.”

“Rafa and I talk on the phone from time to time. We talk a lot. I knew he wasn’t doing great, but when he still made it, I was really happy for him. The effort is immense.” he added.

Rafa will lock horns with the 28-year-old Australian tennis professional Jordan Thompson in the first round of Roland Garros on 22nd May.
