The world number 1 Novak Djokovic has not only impressed his fans from the sport of tennis but also athletes from other sports. Among some of the biggest names that follow him is Man City’s very own Erling Haaland. He had nothing but nice things to say about the tennis star who has achieved the most grand slams amongst the players on the ATP tour.

In a recent podcast episode, the soccer star was asked about which player he would choose from another sport, one whom he thinks has achieved a lot. And it comes as no surprise that it was the Serbian sensation that he chose.

Erling Haaland declares Novak Djokovic as his sporting hero

Novak Djokovic has inspired countless on the tennis circuit, but Erlin Haaland proves his influence goes far beyond those who are in tennis. Haaland declared that the Serbinator was his sporting hero and admired him a lot.

He stated, “I like Djokovic. I think he’s good, he’s being himself and what he has achieved is amazing, coming from nowhere and from his country. I take Djokovic.”

An idol for a lot of fans, the fact that Novak Djokovic had few resources to begin with resonates with many. This respect that Haaland has for Djokovic is reciprocated by the world No. 1 in tennis too. In one of his old interviews, he mentioned how inspired he is by Haaland and thinks his skills are quite impressive.

Novak Djokovic also feels inspired by Erling Haaland

In one of his old interviews, Novak Djokovic shared how Erling Haaland never fails to impress him. He added, “As a fan, I’m super impressed with his skills and his goals so far. It’s unbelievable. Haaland is “definitely one of the best young players of the past few decades. I like his confidence and his work ethic.”

Djokovic, although admitting that he is not a football player, finds the Norwegian’s skills to be quite different. While the two have not had a chance to meet each other yet, Novak Djokovic looks forward to it. And fans are sure, so does Erling Haaland!
