When tennis met soccer! A few months ago, Stefanos Tsitsipas and his ex-girlfriend, Paula Badosa visited Inter Miami CF’s training facility, warmly welcomed by the club owner and English soccer legend, David Beckham. He presented the tennis duo with personalized Inter Miami jerseys and then both tennis stars went on to meet a host of Inter Miami stars, including former Barcelona & Spanish soccer players, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. But did they get a chance to meet the GOAT? Sadly for the tennis duo, Lionel Messi was injured at that moment and he was absent at the training session.

Speaking about how they managed to pull up a meeting with David Beckham and their experiences from that visit, Tsitsipas gave an interview to a Russian media house. He said that he’s a “real Inter Miami” fan and the meeting was organized by his assistant. Stefanos Tsitsipas went on to add, “David has done an amazing job putting together such a team. We didn’t expect to see him there. Initially, Paula and I went to meet Messi, but Leo was not there, haha. But there was David. He recognized us instantly.

Stefanos Tsitsipas reuniting with a sport he used to love before tennis came into his life. During another interview with Tennis Channel, the Greek reflected that it was a lot of fun chatting with Beckham. The Englishman told them about his love for the racquet sport and how his kids used to play the sport during their childhood days. Tsitsipas was even gifted a Messi jersey and also got a T-shirt with the name Tsitsipas and number 98 (his year of birth). Badosa got the number 97 on the back of her jersey.

Surprisingly, during their stay in Miami, both Tsitsipas and Badosa got the chance to meet another soccer icon, NeymarAnd, a few days after his meeting with the tennis duo, David Beckham fulfilled his childhood dream of meeting American tennis legend, Andre Agassi. What a week it was for the trio! But meeting Lionel Messi still remains a wish to be fulfilled for Stefanos Tsitsipas. In fact, Messi is the reason why he started following Inter Miami more often in the last three or four years!

During an interview with ESPN, Stefanos Tsitsipas said, “When I saw that he was coming, I was the happiest person. He is one of my favorite players. He is simple and a beautiful person, not just an athlete. I admire many things about Messi and I hope to be able to meet him to talk for 2 or 3 minutes, it would be my dream.” Dreams got shattered last time around. But will he get a second bite at the cherry in the near future? Well, he might have to travel solo this time!

Talking about Tsitsipas’ dreams surrounding Inter Miami CF, he revealed, “I even thought about investing a little of my capital in this club. But now, when Messi came there, he realized that it was too late. With tennis season reaching its peak in full swing with action-packed tournaments. Now it’ll be interesting to see if soccer somehow gets the chance to meet tennis.
