Frances Tiafoe was undoubtedly the favorite pick of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, a tennis series started by the former coach of Serena Williams, Patrick Mouratoglou. Moreover, his collaboration with Nick Kyrgios who made his debut as Tiafoe’s coach only raised the expectations of the American tennis star.

However, the results have been devastating for Tiafoe and he does not have much to credit his temporary coach for. The American tennis star went down to all his three opponents, Gael Monfils, Ben Shelton, and Alexander Bublik failing to secure a place in the final four.

Frances Tiafoe snubs any positive contribution of Nick Kyrgios after crashing out of UTS
The LA edition of the UTS is going in full swing with crowds jam-packing the venue. However, the crowd has already lost its favorite, Frances Tiafoe after his disheartening run at the tournament. Tiafoe went down to three renowned players, Gael Monfils, Ben Shelton, and Alexander Bublik. Therefore, he has missed his chances to feature in the final four. With his run’s end comes the end of the temporary coaching gig of Nick Kyrgios.
Though, there was a lot of anticipation around the collaboration of the two friends on tour, seems like they are better off pushing each other when they are on opposite sides of the court. Tiafoe answered how much knowledge the Australian tennis star imparted during this tournament. As reported by the Tennis Majors, he stated, “Not too much so far!”

However, he also noted that he enjoys having Kyrgios by his side. He added, “It was pretty funny having him on the sidelines – I’m used to having him across the net!”

After Tiafoe’s regular coach Wayne Ferreira announced his absence from the UTS, Kyrgios stepped in. However, he could not deny the poor performance of the player.
Kyrgios on “trouble” caused by Tiafoe
After the American player went against Alexander Bublik, his coach had something to say about Bublik. Kyrgios could not help but admire the “disgusting” shots of the Kazakh player.

Moreover, after he picked up on the pattern, he warned Tiafoe, “You lose this point, we’re in trouble. I’ve got nothing.” Seems like the player and his coach literally had nothing as he lost his chance to be in the final four.
