UFC star earns a fortune after showing faith in Carlos Alcaraz

Prior to the tournament, Novak Djokovic was the red-hot favorite. According to the bookies, he had more than a 50% chance of winning the Championship which is significantly more than the next best. Alcaraz despite being the second favorite had pre-tournament odds of 4.75, which is just over 20%.

Topuria placed $50,000 on Alcaraz to win the tournament before the commencement and reaped rewards. He posted on his Instagram on 4th July, “My favorite tennis tournament Wimbledon begins, and I’ve made my biggest bet to date. Carlos Alcaraz, to win! Let?s go, all the way with you! ? Place your bets responsibly.

His prediction came true two weeks later as Carlos Alcaraz dethroned Novak Djokovic on the Centre Court in the Wimbledon final. It was quite a risky gamble but fortune always favors the brave. However, there were several occasions where Topuria and Alcaraz were close to losing out on prizes.

Carlos Alcaraz stayed strong under pressure in the final

After a nightmarish start to the final, the Spaniard was dialed in the second set. As the second set went to a tie-break, Novak Djokovic had a set point to take a massive 2-0 lead. However, Alcaraz engaged in passive rallies, saved the set point, and then set one up for himself. He then converted the set point with a? return winner to level things up in the final.

A comeback from 0-2 would be close to impossible, especially against Novak Djokovic who has only lost one match in his career from a two-set lead. However, that was not the only moment where the 20-year-old held his nerves. While facing a break point in the fifth set, Alcaraz kept defending till his last breath before the Serb netted his swing volley. It was a massive moment in the match as Alcaraz went on to hold his serve and break Djokovic’s serve the very next game.
