World Number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic lost his apex position of ATP after his quarterfinal loss at Rolex Shanghai Masters 2019 to Stefanos Tsitsipas and the Spaniard, Rafael Nadal will be declared as the ATP World Number one on November 4, 2019. Nadal will continue to reside on the ATP’s crest for the rest of the season.

However, with the ‘Bercy King’ being in his sixth finals of Rolex Paris Masters and with another prestigious tournament in London under his belt, Novak Djokovic has slim chances to regain his top spot in the ATP Rankings and conclude the year as World Number one. Let’s see how the Serb can do it or the Spaniard can retain the pinnacle grade.

With Novak Djokovic being in the finals of Rolex Paris Masters 2019, if the Serbian legend clinches his fifth title in Bercy by defeating the NextGen player, Denis Shapovalov, his year-end World Number one spot will be clawed closer by 640 ATP points with Rafael Nadal.

To shield his year-end top-ranking, the Spaniard needs to reserve the final berth in London to assure his stay on the ATP’s summit as the season curtains down.

If Djokovic plays the championship match at Nitto ATP Finals, he will have a chance to conclude the year as World Number one tennis player.

If the Serb fails to overcome the incessant winners from the Canadian, Denis Shapovalov in the Sunday’s final in Paris, the ATP points difference between Djokovic and Nadal will be 1040 points, with the Spaniard in the lead.

Rafa can conclude the year as the World Number one tennis player, provided he earns at least 500 ATP points in London i.e., the aggressive lefty needs to win at least three matches at ATP Finals 2019.

If Nadal is successful in achieving those points, Djokovic needs to win the ATP Finals title to have a chance to conclude the year as the top-ranked tennis player.
