The Australian Open 2024 is the 112th edition of the tournament and the 56th in the Open Era. The defending men’s singles champion is Novak Djokovic, and the defending women’s singles champion is Aryna Sabalenka. Both are favorites to win again, and tennis fans are excited to see them defend their championships. This will be the first tournament to have three days for the round 1 matches, and the slightly new format can be viewed in various ways.

When and where is the Australian Open 2024 taking place? 

The Australian Open 2024 will take place in Melbourne in the Rod Laver Arena. The tournament is currently under final preparations and is set to begin on 8th January. The main draws will commence on 14th January, and the tournament will continue till 28th January. The tournament has added an extra day to ensure no scheduling errors in case of long matches.

The Australian Open will kick off as soon as the United Cup, Brisbane International, Canberra International, Adelaide International, and Hobart International conclude. The junior championship will begin on 23rd January, and the wheelchair division will begin on 20th January. Both will end on 27th January. The senior, junior, and wheelchair versions will be played in Melbourne Park.

Unveiling the 2024 Australian Open schedule 

The tournament will kick off with the main draw on 14th January, making it the first Australian Open in its 112-year history to commence on a Sunday. First-round bouts will be played for 3 days to ensure no problems with late-night matches. The second round will commence on 17th January, with the third round being played on 19th. The fourth round will continue from the 21st, after which the final stages begin.

Men’s and women’s doubles will begin after the singles version begins on the 16th. Mixed doubles begins on 18th January, two days before the Junior championships and the wheelchair championship.

How to watch the Australian Open 2024?

Fans can watch the Australian Open finals in the stadium itself or from the comfort of their homes. Channels jump for a chance to earn broadcasting rights for tournaments such as the first slam. In the UK, Eurosport will be the one bringing it home to viewers. Eurosport and its several divisions usually broadcast the tournament in Europe.
