Even the sports powerhouse, Nike once designed a pair of sneakers, ‘Mac Attack OG’, for the American tennis legend in 1984. Now, they are all set to launch a retro release of those classic kicks that are associated with the 7 singles Grand Slam champion. In the process, they will keep the former tennis ace in the same category as other notable figures like Lebron James and Travis Scott.

Nike plans to hail the John McEnroe with a retro release of his sneakers

The sports and fashion powerhouse is all geared up to launch a redesigned version of the 1984 sneakers, Nike Mac Attack OG. It was the American tennis legend, John McEnroe who used to wear those kicks during his remarkable performances on the ATP Tour. Now, Nike is planning to bring back a profusion of these shoes that originally debuted in the 1980s.

These signature sneakers associated with McEnroe are already in huge demand in the sporting community. Even the NBA legend, LeBron James was previously spotted donning a vintage pair which caught the attention of many sneakerheads. Another notable figure, the American rapper, Travis Scott was also seen wearing those retro kicks.

Now, these highly anticipated sneakers are rumored to be redesigned with mesh underlays and smooth leather overlays. However, the original design cues will still be a part of the retro release of the 1984 kicks. A lighter gray hue will be added to the smooth leather overlays of the Nike Mac Attack OG. The fashion giant has come up with a black and blue checkerboard for the tongues of those shoes. Though the sneakers are yet to be released, a leaked image of the pair has already taken the internet by storm.

With her beauty and performances, Naomi Osaka has attracted a number of fashion giants including Nike. The Japanese tennis player, who has often expressed her love for her dog and animes, got a customized pair of Nike sneakers inspired by the same.

She also took to her social media to share a sneak peek of those kicks that were specially designed and customized for her.
