Kader Nouni began referring in 1992 in the French Open. Since 2007, he has been one of the thirty Gold Badge referees appointed by the International Tennis Federation. Further, he is majorly involved in the WTA’s matches. But there have been events in which he sat on the umpire’s chair for men’s matches as well.

Nouni is famous for his deep voice. Now, after completing 30 years of service at the French Open, he spoke about his distinct voice.

While speaking to the media on the occasion of completing three decades of officiating, the French umpire said, “There were some umpires who were afraid of me because of my voice. A referee is normally discreet. You don’t hear him, you don’t see him.”

“Unfortunately, between my Jackson Five hairstyle and my deep voice, I didn’t manage that! It was a bit out of place, so it can be an advantage when you use it well,” he added.

Nouni is often regarded as ‘Barry White’ by the French media because of his deep voice. Barry White was an American singer and songwriter. He touched his peak in the 1970s and earned two Grammy awards with the help of his bass-baritone voice.

As Kader Nouni officiates WTA matches, let’s speak about this year’s WTA French Open. The most prestigious event in clay commenced in May and lasted until the first week of June. However, this year wasn’t for the experienced players rather, it made the next generation players shine.
