The tennis love story of Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina has often captured the hearts of many fans in the sporting realm. A few seasons back, the tennis lovebirds started dating and later tied the eternal knot in April 2021. Ever since Svitolina and Monfils have been there for one another through all of the ups and downs of their journey, both on and off the court.

Being dominating athletes in the tennis community, the power couple has further served as inspirational figures for one another. Speaking about the same, the French tennis star recently opened up about how her Ukrainian wife’s incredible on-court personality has been infectious for him.

Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils bring out the best in one another

After his injury woes and fitness issues, the former world No. 6 player is back to winning ways during his participation in the Cincinnati Open. In the first round of the outdoor hardcourt event, Gael Monfils made a remarkable comeback by outshining the 13th-seeded Brit, Cameron Norrie (3-6, 6-4, 6-3). Following his remarkable victory, the French tennis player was asked about his wife, who herself has been on a stellar run in the women’s circuit, after her maternity break.

On top of her Internationaux de Strasbourg title, Elina Svitolina had an outstanding campaign in both the clay and grass major events this season. Emphasizing the same in an interview with Tennis Channel, Monfils said, “We had each other. It’s great to see her doing so good”.

The 36-year-old asserted that he and his wife try to bring out the best in one another. Meanwhile, the Frenchman also opened up about how witnessing the WTA player’s great discipline, work ethic, and achievements on the court is infectious for him. Monfils said, “She’s happy outside of the court, but enjoying herself on the court, putting the work, the discipline and then have the results, is amazing”.

Svitolina and Monfils have undoubtedly showcased their support and respect for one another, in their on-court endeavors. However, there is a major off-court duty that the tennis couple has also been ardently pursuing in their romantic journey.

The French tennis star also talked about the off-court duties

Following their marriage, the tennis love birds have also taken up parental duties for their baby daughter Skai. In this off-court role, Monfils and Svitolina have constantly supported each other, particularly, when they are traveling for various tournaments with their little one. However, during the hardcourt event in Ohio, the tennis couple is not accompanied by their 10-month-old daughter.

Speaking about the same in the interview, Monfils said it was a tough decision for them to not travel without Skai during their participation, but he asserted that she’s happy and doing good.
