Amidst all the congratulatory texts, Frances Tiafoe managed to find a way to banter with Gauff.

The American tennis players seem to have a great relationship among themselves which was pretty evident during the United Cup. They have always had each other’s back which can be summed up going by their tweets. Now, friendship and banter go hand in hand.

Frances Tiafoe downplays himself to banter with Coco Gauff

Entertainment and banter are always guaranteed with Tiafoe. While replying to the messages, the Big Foe was keeping things simple until he saw Coco Gauff’s story. Tiafoe reposted Gauff’s story and replied, Can I get my CG ones (CG1s) now?“.

Gauff was congratulating Tiafoe on his top 10 entry and Tiafoe’s reply suggested that he was sarcastically asking the 19-year-old if he has become worthy enough to own a pair of CG1s – the famous New Balance sneakers designed for Coco Gauff. Tiafoe and Gauff go way back and have maintained a strong friendship for quite some time now.

When Coco Gauff and Frances Tiafoe played against each other

Players from different tours playing against each other does not sound common unless it’s mixed doubles or an exhibition. Well, in this case, it was both. Gauff and Tiafoe found each other on the other side of the net while playing in the pre-Australian Open charity event to raise funds for Ukraine.

During the match, the Americans indulged in a one-on-one rally where Gauff came out on top. After losing the exchange, Tiafoe asked the crowd to make some noise for Coco. And she bantered back by saying, “I just beat the LeBron [James] of tennis.“.

Would you like to see Gauff and Tiafoe teaming up together for mixed doubles in the slams? Considering the fact that Gauff is already an established campaigner in the doubles tour, this collaboration could be possible in the near future.
