The authorities of the grass-court major event have always remained strict when it comes to their customary all-white dress for the participants. As a result, there were many controversies when a number of WTA players had to play without a bra due to the Wimbledon Championships’ compulsory clothing and underwear regulations. To the relief of many, the organizers have now halted their compulsory all-white underwear rules for the women players.

However, prior to that, there were heated debates around the tournament’s strict regulations particularly when the former British tennis player, Naomi Broady lost a crucial match while playing without her bra. Taking note of the incident, the Australian tennis legend, Pat Cash lashed out at the organizers by labeling their rules as ‘ridiculous’.

As a result, the former British tennis player, Naomi Broady had to play without a bra during her defeat against the former world No 1 player, Caroline Wozniacki. Even the former Australian tennis player, Pat Cash was furious with the organizers as he vented out his frustrations during a conversation with BBC Radio 5 Live, as reported by Express. He said, “Some of the girls have been told to go back and change their bras and tops because they had slight color on them.”

The former Wimbledon champion added, “I believe some of the girls didn’t have suitable sports bras and had to go without them. It has absolutely gone ridiculous.”

However, the authorities have now scrapped their clothing rules ahead of this season’s event, which has gone down well with a number of WTA players including Coco Gauff.

The prior rules of the grass-court major event made it quite stressful for the WTA players to compete in all-white dress during their menstrual cycles. Even the American tennis prodigy, Coco Gauff faced similar difficulties during the previous season’s Wimbledon when she was playing during her periods.

In a recent interview, Gauff revealed how she had to go to the bathroom in order to check on her dress which made it quite stressful for her. Notably, she is now delighted with the revamped rules of the tournament this season.
