Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal created history yesterday by winning the Australian Open 2022. The man from Mallorca won his 21st Grand Slam title in Melbourne and did it in one of the most amazing comebacks in the sport. 

As the 35-year-old player won his 21st Major, American superstar Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian revealed a rookie card of Rafa. A rookie card is a trading card that is the first to feature an athlete after that athlete has participated in the highest level of competition within their sport.

Rafael Nadal was and still is a valuable asset 

In the picture, the Australian Open 2022 champion was that of a small, younger version of the Spaniard. Fans are well aware of Alexis’ collection of this kind of assets. He revealed it at the perfect time. He posted a picture on social media. The caption read, “I love this ⁦Rafael Nadal rookie card because he looks like such a KID! All heart this tournament.”

Coming to tennis, Rafa did the impossible yesterday. He once again displayed why he is the greatest champion in our sport. His ability to fight and never give up is second to none. 

Reflecting on the final, he was up against the Russian powerhouse Daniil Medvedev. The World No. 2 player won the first couple of sets and was nearly about to break Rafa in the third set, which would see him just a couple of games from winning his second Grand Slam title in quick succession.

However, Nadal had other plans and managed to turn the match in his favor from that point. As they say, the rest is history. At the moment, the 35-year-old player is sitting strong on 21 Grand Slam titles.

With the French Open being the next Major, fans can expect Nadal to go the distance in the French capital as well. We wish him the best for the remainder of the season.
