The Miami Open is a Masters 1000 tournament for both ATP and WTA that takes place right after the BNP Paribas Open. It is considered one of the most important Masters tournaments of the year along with Indian Wells. The winner of the event receives 1000 points which can lead to a significant jump in rankings.

The Indian Wells Masters is about to reach its climactic conclusion. As soon as the ATP 1000 Masters ends, another one will begin. The Miami Open, as given in the name, will be played in Miami, Florida in the Hard Rock stadium. The Qualifiers for the tournament have commenced and fans have seen some great matches so far. Miami Open will start on 22nd April. The final will take place on 2nd April.

The matches can be seen live on the Tennis Channel, as they are the official broadcasting partners for the ATP and the WTA. Following a similar pattern as the Indian Wells, beIN SPORTS will be the channel for Australia, the Middle East, and Singapore. Amazon will stream the tour in UK and Ireland. Viacom18 will stream the tournament for India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

The WTA versions can be streamed on the same platforms. In addition to the USA, the Tennis Channel will also stream the event in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

The Miami Open will have an equal prize money

Miami Open is one of the few tournaments that has an equal prize for both male and female players. The prize pool for the 2023 Miami Open is $17.6 million, which means that $8.8 million is reserved for both ATP and WTA players. The winner will receive $1.2 million and the runner-up will get $662,360.

In doubles, the winner will earn a whopping sum of $436,760 for both ATP and WTA versions of the tour. The runner-up will receive $231,660 and the semifinalists will get $123,550.

The 2022 ATP Miami Open saw 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz emerge triumphant. Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud in the final in straight sets with the final score being 7-5, 6-4. In the WTA version, Iga Swiatek won against Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-0, making it her third WTA Masters in a row and her third WTA Masters of the year.

Hubert Hurkacz and John Isner won the men’s doubles by defeating Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in straight sets with a final score of 7-6, 6-4. The women’s doubles saw Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens win against Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-5.

Players with the most Miami Open wins

Andre Agassi and Novak Djokovic have the same number of ATP Miami Open wins. The two have won the Masters six times each. Serena Williams has won the WTA Miami Open a total of eight times. She is followed by Steffi Graf, who has won it five times in her career.
