During his campaign at the international event, the current number one player faced problems with his right wrist, which also forced him into an injury timeout during his quarterfinal defeat against Alex de Minaur. After the ‘Djoker,’ another player, Lauren Davis, has now picked up an injury ahead of the Australian Open. While proving Kyrgios’ point, the American player called the changes in balls the reason behind her recent struggles.

The first Grand Slam event of the season, held in Melbourne, is set to get underway in a few weeks. However, prior to its commencement, the American WTA player recently announced her heartbreaking withdrawal from the Australian Open after picking up a shoulder injury at the start of this new season.
While providing an update on her injury, Lauren Davis recently claimed that frequent ball changes were a major reason behind her recent struggles. In her Instagram story, the 30-year-old player stated, “Really sad to be missing the trip down under this year Rehabbing a shoulder injury due to the many changes in balls. Will be back soon!”
As she has to miss out on the crucial initial part of this new season, the current world No. 72 player has inadvertently helped her British colleague Emma Raducanu ahead of the Australian Open.

Raducanu secures a spot in the main draw in Melbourne after Davis’ withdrawal
The British tennis star, who recently made a comeback at the ASB Classic, missed out on the majority of the 2023 season due to her wrist and knee injury issues. Due to her season-long injury absence, Emma Raducanu dropped out of the top rankings on the WTA Tour, and she was further slated to play the qualifiers at the Grand Slam event in Melbourne.
But now that her American colleague has pulled out of the tournament, the former Grand Slam champion has secured a spot in the main draw of the Australian Open.
