Australian player Nick Kyrgios is set to make his long-awaited comeback next season, but surprisingly, that’s not the thing that’s pushing him into spotlight. The Aussie player has been vocal about the ongoing doping controversy of Jannik Sinner, and now he’s giving a similar treatment to Iga Swiatek. And his recent comment is a wish that sums it all. But at the same time, it leaves a burning question for all – does he prioritize the integrity of the sport over personal milestones?

Kyrgios couldn’t hold back from taking another sarcastic dig at Jannik Sinner following the latter’s failure of two drug tests. The Aussie player, known for his controversial opinions, has always held a critical stance against Sinner, believing the Italian should face harsher punishment than those ITIA imposed on the Italian. “Ridiculous—whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned substance (steroid)… you should be gone for two years. Your performance was enhanced,” Kyrgios stated, showcasing his frustration over ATP number one’s brief suspension despite testing positive for clostebol. His frustration extended to social media, where he almost launched a negative campaign against Sinner. However, that still wasn’t enough to satisfy Kyrgios, who has now returned with another sarcastic comment about the 2024 US Open champion.

A reliable tennis fan recently tweeted a picture of Sinner on the court, asking followers for bold predictions for the upcoming year. Amid numerous responses, Kyrgios’ comment stood out: “That our world number 1’s won’t fail drug tests,” he wrote, referring to the shocking doping failures of both Sinner and Iga Swiatek in the same year.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner awaits CAS’ verdict after WADA appealed, citing a lack of transparency in the case. Although his 2024 Indian Wells prize money has already been stripped as punishment, Sinner and his team continue to claim that the clostebol entered his system through his physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi, during a post-match massage. Despite these claims, Kyrgios remains unconvinced. Before making his comeback in the coming season, he has once again taken a shot at the Italian player.

The Aussie player will return to the court next year and recently shared an update on social media with a video showing his masseur and fitness trainer massaging his wrist. In the video, Kyrgios was heard saying, “No contamination, just a normal cream used on an operated wrist. From an experienced physiotherapist who I am responsible for. Happy to be back and not cheating the system.” His words took a direct jab at Sinner’s case, highlighting his ongoing dissatisfaction with ATP and ITIA’s partial nature. In the upcoming season, Kyrgios may face off against Jannik Sinner preferably in the Australian major. They might try settling their feud on the court with a fierce match.

Not just Sinner but Iga Swiatek’s doping case received similar indignant and outspoken comments from Nick Kyrgios. He slammed the Polish denying the latter’s confession about what happened in her case.

Nick Kyrgios slammed Iga Swiatek – not believing her story of her doping test failure

Iga Swiatek tested positive for Trimetazidine which entered her body through melatonin, a product Swiatek used to get relief from her jet lags. However, for this substance, she failed a doping test in August. Although Swiatek tried her best to prove her innocence, she still received a month of suspension from ITIA. Her punishment was lesser because her case was proven unintentional.

However, Kyrgios didn’t agree with ITIA’s verdict. Expressing his opinion on the matter, this Aussie player tweeted, “The excuse that we can all use is that we didn’t know. Simply didn’t know. Professionals at the highest level of sport can now just say ‘we didn’t know.'”  His words echoed his strong opposing views against ITIA’s judgment. It also highlighted that Kyrgios won’t show mercy to anyone deviating from rules and ethics.
