The WTA season has entered its business end. In what has been a glorious season of tennis, fans have been fortunate to witness some intriguing action. From Iga Swiatek’s dominance to Coco Gauff’s maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open, fans have seen it all. With just two tournaments, the WTA Elite Trophy and the WTA Finals left, it’ll soon be curtains on the amazing tennis season. However, not without some drama. Andy Murray. is part of this new show.
Some interesting action took place at the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China. As a result, it caught the attention of British tennis legend Andy Murray. The 36-year-old is plying his trade at the Swiss Indoors in Basel. Let’s find out what he said about an event at the WTA Elite Trophy.

Andy Murray takes a hilarious dig at a marathon set
Earlier today, the WTA Elite Trophy action commenced in China. Players such as Madison Keys and Jelena Ostapenko featured in this tournament. In one of the ties, the fifth seed, Veronika Kudermetova was up against the local star, Zhu Lin. Although Kudermetova was expected to have an easy outing against Lin, the first set went right to the distance. It lasted for nearly an hour and a half as the Russian star eventually won it in the tie-breaker 7-6 (5).
Their marathon first set caught the attention of the tennis world on social media. Tennis commentator, Jose Morgado, even reposted the snapshot of it on his official Twitter handle with the caption reading, “Andy Murray is that you?” However, Andy Murry has a better comeback.

Reacting to this, Andy Murray said, “83 minutes for a 7-6 set is nothing Jose come on! come back to me when they hit 85 minutes for a set.” While Jose tried to pull Murray’s leg for playing marathon sets over the years, Murray gave back in style with a witty dig at WTA players.

This is not the first time someone has mentioned Andy Murray for his marathon encounters. Earlier this year, English actor, Tom Hiddleston, also talked about this matter.

What did Tom Hiddleston say about Andy Murray?
Hiddleston, who is a fan of Andy Murray, feels the pain of watching him play marathon encounters with a metal hip. During an interview earlier this year, he voiced his concern on the same.
Talking about this, he said, “Andy Murray, five-sets. Four in the morning, a metal hip. It was absolutely grueling and I thought I’d lost several years of my life just from the anxiety of watching him.” However, Andy Murray seems to enjoy these comments.
