Simona Halep had appealed the case of the 4-year suspension for doping that she received from the ITIA a few months earlier. The Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne has already given its first reaction in the trial. Now, Halep awaits a final decision in the case. But in the meantime, several tennis stars have stepped in to support the Romanian and put up a big question mark on the role of Patrick Mouratoglou and his team after the big blunder.

Andy Roddick recently joined the former Belgian tennis player, Kim Clijsters to take a jibe at Serena Williams‘ former coach. Both of them recently appeared on the ‘Served with Andy Roddick’ podcast and here’s what Roddick had to say about the incident.

During the conversation, Andy Roddick said that it stings to see Halep ending up to be potentially the poster child of the conversations. He spoke about Patrick Mouratoglou’s incredible abilities of self-promotion stating he went through his website and saw 18 different photoshoots. ‘It’s like a Puff Daddy who used to jump into every music video in the 90s. Now that’s him in player boxes,‘ said Roddick.

Talking more about the response of Patrick Mouratoglou on this incident, Roddick added, ”I‘m not sure what the punishment is and I understand the way that the rules are written, we’re responsible. But it also bothers me that one there wasn’t an immediate I’m out front not just a video, But I’ll take your question. Like if I’d have done that, if I’d have been a part of giving someone something and them trusting me with it. I’d definitely been out there trying to take as many bullets as possible for that person, right? Like saying I did this. I gave it to her it’s my fault.

Roddick said that he could understand that only Halep could pay the price of it since it was in her body. But said, it’s a tough situation when she’s going to the court and her coach is releasing the list of Top 5 servers on Twitter on the same day. “I think Simona is in the unfortunate position she’s going to kind of set precedent in a bunch of uncomfortable ways. While it seems like no one involved in the decision-making is actually paying the bill for it,” said Roddick.

Even a year earlier, Andy Roddick disagreed with another one of Mouratoglou’s actions. But that time it was the list of best servers that he had put on his social media.

Last year, Patrick Mouratoglou created a video where he spoke about the best servers of all time. This video stirred a major debate in the tennis world. Several coaches and players stepped in to voice their disagreement with the Frenchman.

Roddick disagreed with Patrick Mouratoglou ranking his serve better than that of Ivo Karlovic, Pete Sampras, and Goran Ivanisevic. Mouratoglou didn’t include Ivanisevic in his list. After seeing this list, Roddick stated, “My serve wasn’t better than Pete, Goran, Karlovic, etc…

Andy Roddick gave a special mention to the former Australian tennis star, Wayne Arthurs for his incredible serving abilities. He added, “Also someone like Arthurs who didn’t have much else. That doesn’t mean his serve wasn’t one of the best.”
