In a candid conversation with the podcast hosts, Jenkins reflected on the moment when Coco Gauff’s journey towards tennis greatness took a decisive turn. It was a Quarterfinals match against Swiss tennis ace Belinda Bencic at the Citi Open in 2023.
Jenkins explained, “There is one match that I could think about that started everything, that match that we played against Belinda where we were kind of giving her some strategy to work on and practices leading up to that match. And seeing how she was able to translate it over. Seeing how it worked during practice and how it worked during the match, it made me wonder, that’s the formula right there, that’s what we need to keep working on and that’s how we need to keep going about things and it just clicked. I think once it started to click for her, once she kinda went like this is what i need to be doing during the point, I think that’s when she started to believe that it’s coming.”
