But the 29-year-old Ukrainian tennis player, Elina Svitolina has not only triumphed in her on-court achievements but also successfully dealt with her off-court duties. But being a traveling and busy mother can be a painful thing, and an emotional Svitolina revealed the pitfalls of the same.

Elina Svitolina married the French professional tennis player, Gael Monfils in July 2021 and they welcomed their first child, Skai Monfils in October 2022. Ever since then, she had frequently shared the hardships shared by supermoms on the court. Tennis is a demanding sport that always requires fitness and concentration throughout a career full of ups and downs. A moment of lapse can cost heavily. But being far away from one’s child and putting the focus on the game completely is quite a tough ask, isn’t it?

Elina Svitolina shares the most painful thing about being a traveling momma

The former world number 3 in women’s tennis has to juggle her life as a mother with managing the conflicting feelings of being far away from her daughter on tour days. In a recent interview, she was asked about her plans to take Skai on her tours. She said sadly, that even if she wanted to take her with her she couldn’t, due to the health concerns which may arise out of traveling. Svitolina revealed that Skai’s well-being is their top priority now and till then she would manage with FaceTime calls.

Svitolina was recently asked about the hardest thing of her motherhood in a Q&A session on Instagram stories. She said that the hardest thing is ‘Being apart from her‘. She had also explained earlier how the tennis couple had to change their professional routine after embracing parenthood. Parenting is surely a challenging thing amid their busy schedules, but they seem to be nailing it!

The Ukrainian now wants to instill her spirit and determination in her daughter to fight through the challenges of her life. She wants Skai to be brave enough to defend her beliefs and be a fearless character when she grows up. Svitolina was pregnant when the war broke out around her. She has faced many difficulties since then but has fought them all bravely – and in fact, is looking forward to growing her family.

She often engages with her fans by sharing wonderful moments with her adorable family on her social media. Svitolina last played at the US Open where lost to Jessica Pegula in the third round of the tournament in September. She made a successful comeback earlier this year by winning a WTA Tour title, even reaching the QFs of the French Open and SFs of Wimbledon. But her consistency on the court has been a major concern recently.?

She has achieved a lot to look back even if we assume her career is near its end. But a new challenge lies ahead of her to raise a child and take responsibility for both family and country.
