“He puts me before himself all the time and takes care of the people around him – his family and his team,” Katie Boulter once said, signifying her bond with beau Alex de Minaur. While the mutual admiration between this power couple adds a strong dimension to their relationship, the fans find it absolutely adorable when Boulter occasionally pokes fun at the the Aussie too. Remember when she cheekily critiqued Alex’s outfit at the Monte Carlo. “Not sure the short shorts are a win tho,” she commented on De Minaur’s Instagram post after his thunderous win over Daniil Medvedev. But for a change this time, it’s De Minaur who has taken a dig at Boulter, leaving her in splits! So, what exactly happened?

Katie Boulter, the British No. 1, has been facing a tough run in the clay court swing, with her form dipping noticeably this season. After a straight-sets second-round loss to Jasmine Paolini in Madrid, hopes of a turnaround were high, but they were quickly dashed. Most recently, Boulter suffered another early exit, falling to 33-year-old Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the opening round of the Italian Open. The defeats have raised concerns about her clay court performance, but one thing is certain: Katie isn’t rushing home from Italy just yet.

Instead, she’s making the most of her Roman holiday, standing firmly in support of her partner, Alex de Minaur, who is enjoying an impressive clay season. And even amidst the competitive pressure, the couple continues to keep things light. While strolling the picturesque streets of Rome, De Minaur took a playful jab at Katie.

Just a while back, Katie Boulter shared a delightful glimpse into her Italian getaway with Alex de Minaur, posting a series of exclusive moments that perfectly captured their off-court adventures on Instagram. The carousel began with Katie standing beside a scenic Roman bridge, followed by a breathtaking cityscape, a snapshot of her from the clay court, a cozy moment at a restaurant where the couple enjoyed some downtime, a joyful cycling scene featuring Katie, and finally, a charming photo of the two strolling hand-in-hand through the streets of Rome!

The images radiated warmth, fun, and genuine connection. But what truly stole the spotlight was Alex de Minaur’s cheeky comment underneath: “I thought I was not a good photographer….👀,” he wrote.

But hey this wasn’t the first time De Minaur playfully teased his beloved Katie Boulter. One of the most memorable moments came earlier this season at the AO, after his 4th-round win over American Alex Michelsen. Speaking to former British pro and close friend Laura Robson, De Minaur joked, “When I’m on the court, and you see me so stressed out, I’m just thinking of the wedding budget.” That cheeky comment drew plenty of laughs and showed just how lighthearted he can be, even in high-stakes moments.

Their banter spills onto social media, too! Just last month, Boulter stirred fans with a hilarious post on X: “Get married 🟰 win slam Have a baby 🟰 win 500 📝 📝📝📝📝📝📝📝📝.” With De Minaur one match away from winning the ATP 500 ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, fans quickly connected the dots. De Minaur’s response? Pure gold: “You got any ideas you wanna share with me???😅😂,” he wrote.

Katie Boulter’s playful jab at De Minaur’s love for cars took their ongoing banter to another level

Remember last year when De Minaur couldn’t resist flaunting his beloved car? During an interview, the Aussie proudly said with a grin, “Look at that. That’s just beautiful, isn’t it 😂. That’s my 1973 Mini. It just turned 50 years old last December. We had a big party for it. That’s my daily drive right there.” Fast forward to now, and it seems Alex has added another gem to his collection recently, turning heads once again, this time, with some help from fiancée Katie Boulter.

Just a couple of days ago, De Minaur delighted fans with a fun IG post, posing on a beach beside his iconic green Mini, now joined by a new companion: a classic blue Mini. Tagging the official Mini Classic account, he cheekily captioned it, “One more can’t hurt right? 👀😂🤷‍♂️ #doubletrouble #obsessed.” The post quickly gained traction, sparking excitement among car lovers and tennis fans alike.

But the true highlight came in the comments. Boulter, always ready to join the fun, dropped a hilarious remark that stole the show: “Sometimes I wonder if you’ll replace me also with a mini one day,” she wrote. Not missing a beat, De Minaur fired back with his signature humor: “Minis don’t make fun of me…” Their banter once again lit up the internet, proving just how loved-up and entertaining they are.

Back on court, while Boulter is now out of the Italian Open, De Minaur will face Italy’s Luca Nardi in his opening match in Rome. What’s your prediction for the Aussie?
