As a result, TNT broadcast Paul’s match instead of Swiatek vs. Raducanu, which didn’t go down well with the fans.

The French Open signed a new deal with $25 billion worth of Warner Bros., which led to its broadcast on TNT and truTV in America. The likes of John McEnroe and Jim Courier are lending their voices to the tournament, and fans were left frustrated when the coverage switched to Paul’s match instead of playing the Swiatek vs. Raducanu match.

However, this isn’t the only controversy when it comes to the broadcast of this year’s French Open. Fans have demanded more action to be shown instead of a limited number of matches. As a result, when there are big matches being played simultaneously, like in the case of Swiatek and Paul, some of them tend to miss out. Thus, fans called out the poor broadcast of the French Open.

Fans call out French Open coverage

With the defending champion Iga Swiatek playing, TNT made the surprise call to ditch her match for Paul. This led to anger among her fans, with some calling the coverage awful. “@beatingthebook o man this TNT coverage for french is awful. Tommy paul on tnt over iga/emma match and trutv has a McEnroe cast?! With john and Patrick talking over whatever match is on! Awful,” said a fan, who was not happy with the switch in broadcast.

Meanwhile, some fans wondered if Paul was worth showing instead of Swiatek. A frustrated fan called out the switch in coverage, writing, “and the Tommy Paul match is 2 of the games on the multi view the whole time swiatek v raducanu has been ongoing.” Clearly, the fan wasn’t happy with the TNT broadcast, which made a bizarre call of snubbing Swiatek’s match. Further, one of the Twitter users was absolutely brutal in his criticism of the broadcasting at the French Open, saying, “Tommy Paul playing isn’t worth showing on ONE channel but all 3 networks? What clown made that decision, or are they asleep at the wheel? The monotonic McEnroe boys are enough to make you throw up. How about putting Paul’s match on the bottom tickers and show a Women’s match?” Although Paul is America’s biggest hope left in the tournament in men’s singles, the Swiatek vs. Raducanu match promised to be a more thrilling one.

Not only has the criticism been on the broadcast, but also on the scheduling of the matches at the French Open. However, when Paul’s match on Court 14 got preference over Swiatek’s match on Court Philippe-Chatrier, a fan lost his cool and commented, “A lot of people are complaining about the French Open scheduling more men’s matches at night, but where is the uproar over TNT showing a Tommy Paul match on Court 14 wall to wall while Iga Swiatek and Emma Raducanu are on Chatrier?” All in all, the fan was completely disappointed with the organizers and the broadcasters.

Lastly, some fans even lost their patience and questioned the commentators over the snub of Swiatek’s match. “@JohnMcEnroe @PatrickMcEnroe @RealJimCourier Do we really need Tommy Paul vs. Fucsovics on TNT AND TruTV?!! I don’t understand why you’re not showing Raducanu vs. Swiatek,” said a fan, who was disappointed with the choice of coverage.

While Swiatek had it easy against Raducanu, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, Tommy Paul made a glorious comeback to level the match 2-2 after being two sets to love down. Although the broadcasters made a big blunder by snubbing Swiatek’s match, the defending champion continues to progress, keeping her hopes alive of defending her crown.
