American tennis coaching legend, Andy Brandi passes away at the age of 72 after battling with cancer for a while. The tennis fraternity mourns the death of the legendary coach. Several superstars of the game recently recalled their fond memories with the coach while paying their condolences.

‘Tennis world lost one incredible human being’- Big tennis stars mourned the death of Andy Brandi

Brandi has spent almost 17 seasons as a coach at the University of Florida. He was best known for coaching the Florida Gators tennis team to three national championships during the 1990s. Andy Brandi also worked as the executive director of IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Recently, he served as the head coach of the LSU Men’s Tennis team (2017-2022). 

Brad Gilbert tweeted, “RIP Coach! What a legendary coach Andy, so passionate about our sport of tennis. Absolutely, amazing with kids development.” While the 28YO American tennis player, Jennifer Brady posted a story on her Instagram account where she wrote, “RIP Andy Brandi. The tennis world lost one incredible human being. Grateful to have crossed paths with you during my tennis career. You will be missed, Andy.”

Puerto Rican former tennis player, Monica Puig expressed her condolences on X(formerly Twitter), “RIP Andy! There’s so many things I wish I could say to you, but really… Thank you for always believing in me and pushing me to be the best I could be. I’ll miss you so much but thank you for the most amazing times we shared together. Love you forever coach!”

The former American tennis player, Jimmy Arias came to the Tennis Channel Live show and said, “He was when I was just a wee lad. He was running things and uh, classy guy, great coach, great person. And, you know he went on from the academy life to college tennis and affected young people’s lives for his whole life. So sad, sad day.” Andy Brandi’s contribution to the racket sport is believed to be remembered for generations to come through these memories.
