Alcaraz offered a humble confession while reflecting on his 2024 season. The Spaniard is in Charlotte to attend another exhibition match against America’s favorite, Frances Tiafoe. Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys will also participate in the event, bringing back memories of their clash at the 2017 US Open finals. Two days earlier, Alcaraz played against Ben Shelton at the Madison Square Garden and conquered the American player by 4-6, 6-2, and 7-4 in front of a roaring New York crowd. Now he is ready to show his skills at the Spectrum Center. Before he plays against Tiafoe, Alcaraz makes a strong confession showcasing his humble side again.

During a pre-match press conference, the 2024 Wimbledon and Rolland Garros champion said, “Well this year has been challenging for me but at the same time, Yeah Yeah!” Alcaraz had to skip his statement because Stephens who sat right next to him gave a quirky look highlighting that the Spaniard is still not satisfied with this year despite two major titles. Stephens said, “Really? Tell us about it!” Tiafoe also chimed in and said, “Tough winning two majors.” Laughing at the reaction of his two colleagues, Alcaraz further continued, “I am not used to dealing with so many injuries and this year was, a complicated time for me you know, when I faced, you know the clay season. But I ended up you know good! But you know at the same time I look back and I think I did have a pretty good season, I am really proud about what I did.” Alcaraz’s statement highlighted his satisfaction in overcoming his setbacks and closing the season with two Grand Slam titles.

Despite his achievements, Alcaraz ended his season as ATP number three. This might be a reason for this dissatisfaction with the season. Moreover, it felt like the major titles don’t impress the Spaniard because he might be aspiring to work hard to be the true Tennis Big Three legacy bearer. The ATP star once laid bare his heart about it and impressed the fraternity with zeal and determination.

Carlos Alcaraz thinks “it will be a frustration” not to play as well as Tennis Big Three

The era of Tennis Big Three is coming to an end with Novak Djokovic being the only existing member to be active on the professional tour. Among the other two names, Federer retired two years back and Nadal ended his professional career a month back. Following the end of this illustrious generation of tennis marvels, the fraternity has already kept its eyes on a true successor, and Carlos Alcaraz‘s name appeared as a great priority on the list. After Nadal’s retirement, the 2024 Rolland Garros champion confessed his dream, and it wasn’t quite surprising. “For us young players, we were lucky to witness the generation of the Big Three, players that were not from this planet. But on the other hand, it looks like if we are not as good as them, it will be a frustration. I will try not to feel like that. I will give my best every day and try to be the best possible person every day,” said Alcaraz.

Alcaraz’s words echoed his zeal to reach epic milestones like Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. In his growing career, the Spaniard has already won four Grand Slams showing that he has the potential to join his icons. Recently, he reached a step closer to the achievements of the Tennis Big Three by closing his year within ATP’s number three rank for three consecutive years.

Carlos Alcaraz’s take on his 2024 year showcases his humble side. Despite two major titles, he hunger for more doesn’t seem to be satiated. What are your thoughts?
