Of late, there have been talks that the tournament will be moving to a different region in the future. But the two champions’ recent announcement will make the local fans happy.

The duo announced that the Western and Southern Open will stay in Cincinnati, ending months of speculation surrounding the tournament. There was talk going on in the tennis circuit about whether the tournament was moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. The City Council there voted in favor of a proposed $400 Million tennis project in hopes of bringing the Western and Southern Open to North Carolina. However, Djokovic and Gauff’s announcements have quashed their hopes.
The tournament released a video of the two, who broke out the news about the future of the tournament. In the clip, Djokovic said, “Hello Cincinnati. Your two champions here. Your wonderful tournament is staying in Cincinnati…With more than $200,000,000 being invested in stadium improvements to raise the tournament’s prestige on a global stage.”

Prize money disparity brought to light at Cincinnati Masters
Coco Gauff gave her all and joined Novak Djokovic to claim top honors at this year’s Western and Southern Open. Despite her efforts, it was known that Gauff was paid less than 50% of what Djokovic earned for winning the title. The disparity amounted to a whopping $564,835 as the tennis world was left concerned as soon as this news broke out.
