She reshared the story on her handle and wrote in the caption, “Can’t believe I’m in the same stat line as @bigboe1998 smh.”

Meanwhile, it is no secret that Gauff and Tiafoe share a close-knit bond. Thus, they often have playful banter with each other while practicing together at the tournaments. Additionally, during a WTA interview, Gauff playfully revealed that she wouldn’t call Tiafoe first in an emergency, poking fun at their friendship.

Gauff revealed, “Honestly, I thought they put the rackets in the bag, and my side court bag is filled with drinks and everything. So it felt like I had enough weight. Then I got on court, and I opened the first zipper. I was like, ‘OK, no rackets.’ The second zipper… ‘Oh my God. I went on court with no rackets. Usually JC (coach Jean-Christophe Faurel) puts them in. I’ll see what happened.”

Nonetheless, Gauff didn’t let the blunder get in the way of her first-round victory over Olivia Gadecki. She was dominant right from the word go and took no time in dispatching the challenge of her opponent. Up next, Gauff will face Tereza Valentova in the second round on Thursday.
