There is no doubt that Saudi Arabia has taken the entire sporting community by storm with its rapid investments and move to capture all major sports like soccer and golf. Even, the sport of tennis is on their list as there are ‘positive’ talks going on between the ATP Tour officials and Saudi Arabia’s PIF. With the country moving its attention to tennis, the Aussie player, Nick Kyrgios has used his platform to showcase his support to their plans.

However, it sparked a lot of debate with the WTA player, Daria Kasatkina begging to differ as she brought to light the human rights issues and women’s rights and safety concerns in the country. Taking note of the Russian tennis player’s criticism of his remarks, the ‘bad boy of tennis’ has now come forward to fire back at her on social media.

Nick Kyrgios has a blunt response to Daria Kasatkina’s criticism of Saudi Arabia’s moves

The prospect of the Middle East nation’s involvement in all the major sports across the globe has drawn a lot of scrutiny and mixed reactions from athletes. During a recent interview, Daria Kasatkina slammed the players, particularly, her male counterpart, Nick Kyrgios for participating in tournaments in Saudi Arabia in order to get “a big check.”

In the process, the Russian tennis star also brought to light the women’s rights and safety concerns in the country. The WTA player made it clear that she would never prioritize competing in such sporting events for monetary gains as she is committed to other ideals. However, Kasatkina’s remarks about the safety concerns for women received a blunt response from the Aussie tennis star. He tweeted, “My girlfriend felt fine there 🤷🏽‍♂️”

In his response, the controversial tennis star reminded the WTA player of his previous trip to the Diriyah Tennis Cup exhibition event in Saudi Arabia. During the tournament, he was accompanied by his girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi while the couple also shared some heartfelt moments together in the country.

This is not the first time that the ATP player has backed the country’s involvement in tennis as he previously talked about the hospitality he received there.

Kyrgios lauded the hospitality he received in Saudi Arabia

The ‘bad boy of tennis’ has often been surrounded by controversies due to his participation in the exhibition event in Saudi Arabia. Even during a recent interview, Kyrgios was asked to comment on the major concerns and issues regarding the LGBTQ+ community in the country.

In his response, the ATP player made it clear that he is solely focused on his performance on the court. However, he didn’t shy away from lauding the hospitality he received in Saudi Arabia during his participation in the Diriyah Tennis Cup exhibition event.
