Nick Kyrgios, the controversial Australian tennis player has recently prompted another social media controversy. A furious Kyrgios vented on Instagram about receiving zero respect. Despite claiming to not care about the fact, Kyrgios slammed the lack of respect shown to him regarding a recent incident involving a retired 26-year-old tennis star in his Instagram stories.
Former Australian player Ashleigh Barty recently won the John Newcombe Medal over Nick Kyrgios. The contentious star seemed to be not a fan of the decision. Kyrgios vented his frustration over the choice on social media. The annual award is the highest individual honor in Australian tennis. The retired Barty took home the medal for a record-breaking fifth time in this year’s competition.

Nick Kyrgios is upset about a recent award loss
Nick Kyrgios didn’t seem to like losing out on the Newcombe Medal at all. He used his Instagram story to share his frustration. Kyrgios wasn’t happy that he wasn’t given due respect. He also added in his Insta story, “No respect at all. I don’t give a f***.”
The Aussie also added a chart contrasting his 2022 campaign with Ash Barty. After winning in Adelaide to cap off an unbeaten summer, Barty ended a 44-year local title drought at the Australian Open. Despite her unexpected retirement in March, she was named the best tennis player in Australia in 2022.

Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis won the 2022 Australian Open doubles, and he has undoubtedly had the most successful year of his career. The 27-year-old did not seem to take losing out on the Newcombe Medal very kindly.

On the other hand, the 2014 “Newk” winner, Kyrgios achieved a career-high quarterfinal finish, defeated six top-10 players, and won an ATP title.

The ATP Awards have named Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis the best fan-favorite doubles team of the year. The duo began the season by winning the Australian Open as wildcards. Later, they added a second trophy in Atlanta while also making history by becoming the first players to qualify for the ATP Finals.

Only three teams had won the award before this year, and the singles and doubles categories are the only awards in the annual ATP awards that are fan-voted. Both men qualified for the prestigious year-end championships in singles and doubles for the first time.
