Kyrgios further faced a heavy fine along with a suspension, according to a statement released by the ATP. While addressing the incident, the American tennis legend, Pete Sampras, slammed Kyrgios during a Nike promotional event in 2015.

Kyrgios’ rumored girlfriend, Eugenie Bouchard, also took note of Pete Sampras’ criticism of the Australian tennis player. Bouchard further used her online platform to address the issue while highlighting the conversation between Sampras and Kyrgios. The Canadian tennis star stated, “Highlight of the night: Pete Sampras telling @NickKyrgios to ‘behave, young man’ 😂”

Bouchard on Kyrgios’ controversial incident during the Toronto Masters

The 27-year-old Australian tennis player previously played against the American star, Reilly Opelka at the Toronto Masters. However, during the match, Kyrgios was involved in another controversial incident because of the umpire’s decision. During the match, Opelka appeared to have touched the net. However, the umpired didn’t make any call for the same.

As a result, Kyrgios was involved in a furious rant with the umpire for not making the call. Bouchard reacted to the incident, and she expressed her opinion on the decision. The Canadian player said while appearing in Tennis Channel that she didn’t think the American touched the net. She further stated that Kyrgios was just “picking things” to get involved in his furious rants. However, Bouchard further said that she finds it “entertaining” when players are involved in such incidents on the court.
