The absence of Roger Federer causes outrage

As Djokovic won his slam, ESPN released their ‘most major wins’ list of all time. It included him, Margaret Court, Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, and Steffi Graf. The Swiss Maestro was absent from the list as he is sixth in the tally. This move did not settle well with fans of the sport and Federer, as they went on to lambast the sports media outlet.

This is not the only time fans have expressed displeasure at ESPN for their posts. Last year, ESPN compared Joey Chestnut, a competitive eater, to Serena Williams and LeBron James. The post received scathing comments.

The cause of the outrage mainly revolved around Court being included in the list, with many fans saying most of her titles came before the Open Era. Fans suggested her name be removed to accommodate Federer on the list.

Some fans suggested removing Court from the list as it should include only Open Era titles. On the other hand, some talked about her controversial stance on an important issue.

One fan said that the tennis world will not tolerate the absence of Federer from such a graph and he should be there when Djokovic touches his 25th slam. They also suggested Court be removed from the tally.

Another fan felt it was a shame to not add the Swiss Maestro to the list. She further said that including Court was a catastrophe and she should be removed from the list.

One outraged user talked about the time when Graff had the most slams. When Williams got closer to it, Court’s name popped up, and the record changed. They further believed that Court shouldn’t be counted since she was pre-Open Era.

One user outrightly wanted Court to be removed and changed for Federer.

A die-hard Roger Federer fan was lurking at the post and was hurt by his absence.

Referring to the earlier years of Mickey Mouse, one fan aggressively said that she should go back to that era.

Court is well known for her homophobic comments, which make her a controversial figure. A user said that she should be removed for that, and Federer will shine in that category.

One fan believed that mixing the men’s and women’s titles was not a good idea and that Federer should be included in each all-time list.

One user talked about him being a runner-up in five of those titles to Nadal and Djokovic.

The absence of Federer from the list has disturbed his fans. After all, the Swiss Maestro earned 20 grand slam titles throughout his career. As they express their displeasure on the internet, it seems the anger will not die down soon. What is your perspective on this situation? Tell us in the comments!
