This French tennis player in her recent interview on Le Sexta said- “Rafa, I have known him since he was 17. We have known each other for more than 20 years. I know his values, and what “he defends (…) He defends that men and women have the same capacity to have equal opportunities. On the other hand, salary meritocracy, which is one of the pillars of feminism, is not necessarily linked to gender, It is not because a woman is going to be better than a man in her field, that she must earn less, and will be on equal pay with a man.”

After accepting the role of the new Brand Ambassador of the Saudi Tennis Federation, Nadal was asked to justify his new role in a country where women’s rights and powers of female athletes are restricted. In his response to the journalist Ana Pastor, Nadal said- “I’m not a hypocrite, I don’t like to say easy things about feminism. For me, we must give men and women the same investments and the same opportunities. The same salaries? No, for what purpose? If you tell me that being a feminist means wanting the same opportunities for both, then I’m a feminist. I have a mother, I have a sister. Equality is not about giving gifts, it is that if for example Serena Williams generates more income than me, she can earn more.”
