Venus Williams has been number 1 in both singles and doubles. The 43-year-old has gone on to clinch 7 Grand Slam singles titles in her career so far. But along with the silverware in singles tennis, she has plenty to showcase from her doubles career as well. Venus Williams has won 14 women’s doubles titles, partnering with her sister Serena Williams. With such a commanding performance, the Williams sisters hold the record of being unbeaten at Grand Slam doubles finals. Well, that was about Williams. Now, what about Clijsters? Well, it seems she was quite the competitor herself.
Kim Clijsters was also number 1, in women’s singles and doubles ranking. Coming from a country which is lesser known for tennis, she went on to become the first Belgian to attain the number 1 ranking. The 6 times (4 in singles + 2 in doubles) major title holder managed to pave the road-map for youngsters and put Belgium on the maps of the tennis world. She has won 41 singles titles and 11 doubles titles in her career.
