43-year-old Venus Williams is aiming to do something extraordinary at Wimbledon this year. Venus has won a staggering five Wimbledon titles in her illustrious career. But her age and fitness are posing difficulties for her. She suffered a hamstring injury in Auckland. After resting for months, she got a wildcard to participate in the Libema Open in the Netherlands. And in the Birmingham Open, she won the first match but lost the second. Now, she was seen with the British tennis great, Andy Murray, just before the start of the Wimbledon Championships, sparking rumors of a doubles partnership.
Murray, like Venus, has also had an indifferent grass-court campaign so far. After the Italian Open, he didn’t participate in Roland Garros to prepare for Wimbledon. He won the Nottingham Open and Surbiton Trophy to make a statement before Wimbledon. But he lost to Alex De Minaur in the Queen’s Championship.

Venus Williams and Andy Murray on the grass, together
As Wimbledon starts from July 3, preparations are at its peak for every player. Andy Murray and Venus Williams too came together to practice on the grass. And the Instagram handle captioned the video clip with “Legends.”
One more clip shared by the Instagram handle showed Andy Murray collecting the tennis balls on the court by himself. While Venus Williams was more focused on getting her shots right.

Though both of them appear determined, many believe that it will be difficult for the tennis legends to repeat history. Murray has clearly stated his aim of securing his third Wimbledon win after winning as many as Rafael Nadal. Also, he won the prestigious title for England after 77 years. On the other hand, Venus Williams won her first Wimbledon title when she was just 20. And experts consider her as one of the finest grass court players. However, many believe it is unwise for the two to play at this stage, let alone dream big. But American tennis star Andy Roddick came in support of the two legends.

Andy Roddick defends the legends
As the debate was getting heated up about the participation of the two stars in Wimbledon, Andy Roddick supported the two. He said, “Anyone who says ‘oh they shouldn’t be playing anymore, just shut it. Venus has earned every right to play. Andy Murray has earned every single right to play. They are the greats for a reason. They’re not competing against their own shadow at this point. They’re competing for those moments of accomplishment and we saw that with Venus.”

However, Roddick said that Venus Williams needed to have saved her energy for Wimbledon. Because at this age, it would naturally be tiresome to her. But whether the two stars turn out to be winners or not, they certainly are the fighters worth to be praised for generations.
