Earlier in the match, Tsitsipas took the early break in the first set. However, Rune broke back immediately to level things up. Further, he claimed a decisive break in the 11th game of the opening set and held his serve subsequently to take the first set, 7-5.
The fourth seed showed glimpses of a comeback as he won the second set, 6-3. The third set was a one-sided affair, with Rune starting to dominate the proceedings, eventually winning the set, 6-3. As the Danish teenager’s confidence grew, he didn’t give the World No.4 the opportunity to make a comeback and won the fourth set, 6-4. In his first appearance in the quarterfinals, Rune will face Casper Ruud of Norway.
