His Australian Open participation was canceled after his deportation from Australia. Further, he had a dismal run in the two tournaments that he has played so far this season.

During the US Open in 2020, the Serb created a massive uproar due to his actions. Recently, the Canadian tennis star, Eugenie Bouchard, has opened up about this incident involving Djokovic.

Eugenie Bouchard talks about the infamous incident involving Novak Djokovic at the 2020 US Open

During a conversation about Djokovic hitting the lines judge, the talk-show host asked Bouchard whether she felt that the woman shouldn’t have been standing there. The Canadian replied, “What are you talking about? It was her job to stand there. That was wrong he [Djokovic] should not have done that.” Further, she went on to say that many tennis fans have a love-hate relationship with Djokovic.

The incident took place during Djokovic’s fourth-round match against Pablo Carreno Busta. While trailing 6-5 in the first set, the Serb hit the ball with his racket in frustration. However, unfortunately, the ball went on to hit the lineswoman on the throat and she appeared in severe discomfort. Djokovic immediately rushed towards the woman who went down on the floor.

Subsequently, the tournament officials defaulted Djokovic from the tournament. Later, the 34-year-old apologized for his actions.

Djokovic is currently in his hometown, Belgrade to participate at the Serbia Open. He dig deep to secure a hard-fought victory over his compatriot, Laslo Djere in his tournament opener in close to three and half hours on Wednesday. In the quarterfinals, he will be up against Miomir Kecmanovic. Their match will be held later today.
