Bianca Andreescu, a Canadian tennis player, is struggling to come to terms with certain hard-hitting realities of the tennis circuit. Did you know that she once had the world at her feet? Yes, in 2019, she became the first Canadian to win a Grand Slam, by beating none other than 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, but since then she has not won a Major title. However, the 2019 US Open champion couldn’t get past the third round of the 2023 French Open, four years after achieving one of the greatest tennis feats in her career.  Goes to show, it is more difficult to stay at the top than to get there.

After suffering an early defeat at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament, the 22-year-old tennis player discussed how she would like to connect with some of the best to ever play the game and get some crucial advice on how to remain consistent.

Bianca Andreescu wishes to connect with the tennis giants 

The former world number four ranked tennis player, for the past few years, has been struggling with injuries and facing a lot of ups and downs on the tennis court. But following her early exit from the French Open, the Canadian tennis star told sports pundit Jonathan Pinfield about her wish to interact with tennis legends, Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. They received a plea for a serious discussion on how they managed to win so many Grand Slam titles, from the 22-year-old tennis player.

She said, “For sure, I have a lot of unconscious expectations from myself, where it’s like, you know, I think about the Grand Slam. I then think, “Why can’t I continuously have that? But I think a lot of players struggle with it, other than the obvious Djokovic, Federer, Nadal. I still hope to talk to them one day to see how the heck they do it and even Serena like it incredibly.”

Well, she never got an opportunity to connect with The Big 3 of tennis. But in the past, she created a strong bond with the 41-year-old American tennis legend, after defeating her to grab her the first Grand Slam title.

When Andreescu talked about her bond with Williams 

When the 23-time Grand Slam champion announced his retirement from the tennis world last year, the 22-year-old tennis player, at the time, expressed how honored she felt to have had the chance to play against her and even interact with her on two seperate occasions at the 2019 US Open and Rogers’ Cup.

She then recalled her first meeting with Williams, when she came to her locker after the US Open match and had some nice things to say. Moreover, she had a fantastic opportunity to speak with the American tennis superstar and forge a friendship with her, even at the Rogers Cup.
