There was a time when the Twitter blue tick was the reflection of an account’s authenticity. However, those times are well and truly gone with the launch of the Twitter Blue subscription. Now, users have to subscribe to Twitter Blue for getting the blue tick to appear next to their accounts. This has resulted in numerous celebrities losing their verification status on Twitter.

Some of them, like Jessica Pegula, the world’s richest athlete, don’t seem to care. However, others such as Novak Djokovic seem to have opted for the paid subscription. Even the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, arguably the most iconic tennis players of all time, have chosen to steer clear of Twitter Blue. For Twitter users, this is turning out to be a constant source of entertainment.

Twitter users poke fun at both Jessica Pegula and Novak Djokovic

A Twitter user tweeted, “Jessica Pegula buy twitter challenge”. It didn’t take long for the funny tweet to engage fans.

Another user tweeted, “she has to save us”. This was a clear dig aimed at Elon Musk, who recently announced that a new CEO would replace him at Twitter.

Another user wrote, “omfg, even SHE doesn’t have that kinda” followed by three money bag emojis. The user went on to write, “…does she? would be so awesome”.

Yet another user tweeted, “if she buys twitter blue i’m blaming you”.

Last but not least, a user wrote, “hahah… sounds like a great idea”.

There was another tweet from a user that went, “ffs nole. not even pegula is paying for it”. The user referred to the blue tick that Twitter users can be eligible for by subscribing to Twitter Blue.

Several users reacted to the tweet. For instance, a user tweeted, “Djokovic always craves the attention. Cringe!”

Another user wrote, “Pegula was offended because she had to pay only $8. She wanted to pay more but they didn’t let her.”

A brief look into Jessica Pegula’s astounding wealth

Pegula’s on-court performances, particularly in doubles along with fellow American Coco Gauff, have rewarded her with prize money amounting to around $5.8 million. However, it’s not just the prize money she has earned from tennis that contributes to her net worth. After all, Pegula is the daughter of Terry Pegula, the owner of the NFL team Buffalo Bills. The tennis ace’s father’s net worth is around US$ 6.8 billion.
