‘I Cry When You Lose’ – Chris Evert Has a Message for Roger Federer After His Retirement Announcement

Who would have thought that two of tennis’ greatest players will end their careers in a space of few days? Such has been the void created by them. Earlier this month, 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams played the last match of her decorated tennis career at the US Open. It was an emotional moment for her in front of her home crowd. Subsequently, Swiss maestro Roger Federer took to social media to announce the end of his tennis career a few days later.
As soon as the news about Federer’s retirement broke out, fans across the globe sent in their reactions using social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter. Additionally, fellow players and renowned sporting personalities also congratulated him on a wonderful career. Recently, American tennis legend Chris Evert also reacted to Federer’s retirement.

Chris Evert lauds Roger Federer
The 67-year-old had kind words for Federer after his retirement announcement. She said, “I just want you to know that I appreciate how nice you were to my boys in the early years when you always came out of the locker room to say hi to them. And I just want you to know, that along with the beauty of your game, you, what impressed me the most was, you were such a great sport both on and off the court.”
Further, she went on to add, “Win or lose, you were just so gracious and a gentleman, but you know you are my favorite player, you’ve always been my favorite player and you know you’re the only player that I cry when you lose.”

Federer’s record at the Laver Cup
The Swiss maestro has played in all but one edition of the Laver Cup. As expected, Federer dominated the tournament. In the six singles matches that he has played in the Laver Cup, Federer won all of them.

Additionally, Roger Federer also participated in doubles matches at the tournament. However, he has had mixed luck in this format. In the five doubles matches that he has played in the Laver Cup, the 20-time Grand Slam champion has managed to win two of them.
